So recently I had an argument over who the best gamer of the past thirty years. Was it Billy Mitchell the man who is probably the best arcade cabinet player/ first person to ever score a perfect game of Pacman or Jiao Wang and Chen Zhihao the best Dota 2 players in the world. But then we asked what we were defining by saying who is the best gamer by analyzing three different things they would need to be the best gamer: Medium, Challenge, and Audience. We came to the conclusion that it would be Pewdiepie. Here’s Why
Medium: For those that aren’t familiar with who and what Pewdiepie are he’s a Letsplayer on YouTube. The letsplay format is one that was designed for gamers where they comment in real time on whats going on in there game. Also with the way a person in there free time can watch a whole block of letsplayers over hours.
Challange: A great gamer has to have challenges to over come. And with PewdiePie he has this. He can play pretty much any game from PC to all the current systems. He Can put himself to any challenge that a viewer might want to see.
Audience: His Greatest accomplishment is his audience. With over 38 Million subscribers he has the largest captive audience on YouTube. He currently has over 8 billion views of his videos (Just to freak you out if each of his videos was a minute long, that would equal to 15 thousand years). For those that don’t know how he gained his audience, he did a combination of daily uploads, content rigging, cross promotion from around the world. It’s his personal lifes work to be the best YouTuber in the world. So with a strong captive audience like this, you can pretty much grantee be seen at every minute of every day.
